| - Calling myself a cupcake aficionado would be the understatement of the century. I LOVE me some cupcakes. Last year for my Birthday, I went on a self-directed "cupcake tour" of NYC. I found my cupcake haven, Magnolia Cupcakes, and thought that I would never find a cupcake as good EVER again. Then I found the Polka Dot Bake Shop.
I've been on a "no added sugar" kick for 3 weeks now, with one cheat day. And, of course, my cheat day includes a cupcake! For the past 2 weeks I've been trying SAS, but found myself in the neighborhood of PDBS yesterday and gave it a try!
I went in at a little before 3pm and was disappointed to see they were "sold out" of many flavors and weren't making more. Although this may speak to how popular they are on a random Tuesday, I would also consider that poor planning on the part of someone in the business. Alas, I got a vanilla with chocolate icing and my husband had a lemon blueberry cobbler.
Then I got home and tried the cupcake. And it was AMAZING. All caps definitely needed. At least tied with Magnolia in NYC . Maybe even BETTER (shhhhh! Don't tell Magnolia). Wow. My taste buds were singing with joy. I can't wait until my next "cheat day" to have another! And, they will definitely be making any Birthday cakes I need in the future. The cupcake was perfect, moist and delicious. The chocolate icing is crave-worthy, creamy perfection.
I've since looked at their website, which says you can call to "reserve cupcakes" so they don't sell out of your favorite flavor. I would suggest you do that and I will probably do that next time if I remember!
Oh, how it pains me to give them 4 and not 5 stars, but I have to since they were sold out of so many favors and still were open 3+ more hours.
