  • Today is Earth Day, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to shred and recycle a bunch of old papers. Doing a bit of searching, I discovered ABCO Shredding recently opened a location in Tempe, so I decided to give it a go! I must say, Dominic runs a really efficient operation. You can drop your boxes or bags of paper and they'll shred them later. Or for the truly security conscious, you can wait while they shred your stuff. I opted to wait and see how it's done. The shredding does take some time. For a packed banker's box, it takes around five minutes. If you use your handy dandy heavy duty household shredder, the same job would probably take half an hour! And ABCO's machine is pretty quiet, and has a great dust control system. I had no problem standing right next to the shredder while it ran. One more thing, they ARE very security conscious - to the point that, when I tried to take a photo of the shredder, I was asked politely to put the phone away inside the building. My shredding experience was a good one, and I will use ABCO for my future shredding needs!
