| - I would like to give this place 5 stars but the cooking of the food, especially the meats, is just too inconsistent. It's a bit of a crap shoot if they cook your chicken or turkey all the way through, so you risk a bit of salmonella. Plus they may get a bit wild with mixing your ingredients with the person's next to you. So you may end up with 8 shrimp in a bowl you didn't put shrimp in, or your food may be incredibly salty even though you didn't add any salt or spices that were mixed with salt or any sauces to your ingredients. Perhaps that's why they ask you if you have any food allergies or special instructions before they cook your food. I guess you have to say, "Yes... don't mix my food with other people's and cook the poultry all the way through."
They ask you every time you come in if "you've dined with them before". I get that they want to guide you through the bowl making process if you're new, but when you're there 3 times a week, it gets old. With an instructional video that plays near the ingredient bar, plus attendants behind the bar to assist you and answer questions, I think they can safely eliminate the question when you're greeted.
The other thing that sorta rubs me the wrong way is the barrage of people who come up to you while you're eating to ask "How's the bowl?" There's nothing wrong with an occasional visit from your server to ask if there's anything you need, or to refresh your drink but their system is more than overkill.
Lastly is the Manager's unsightly, long chin beard (no mustache). Aesthetically, I'm pretty sure this is just my issue that I need to get over, but he also cooks over the food with no beard net and no hair net or hat.
I continue to return to this restaurant because there are very few places near work that allow you to make healthy choices while offering a variety of flavors. The staff is also very friendly and extremely helpful (including beard Manager guy) if you have issues with your food. I just wish they'd make a few tweaks to deserve a higher rating.
