All of the items they sell are extremely cheap. I purchased a cabinet, which broke within 6 months. A bike, which was sold to me already broken, but I didn't realize until I got home and then they said I had the right to inspect it in store before taking it home as it was final sale (can you actually believe they could sell an already broken bike to someone and then tell them it is their fault for not inspecting it before leaving the store?). The final straw was when I purchased a camping stove last week and the ignition failed to work. So I had to camp without a stove, then they wouldn't give me a refund, and said I couldn't exchange it until September when they got more in (what is the point of buying a camping stove for camping in August if you can't use it until September?) Although corporate head office seemed apologetic and helpful, they said it was ultimately up to the store level and once I contacted the store level I got no help at all.
I would spend your money elsewhere. If you can't afford better quality things, at least shop at Walmart as their customer service and return policies are incredible compared to Canadian Tire. Canadian Tire used to be my store of choice, especially living downtown where it is difficult to get to other stores without a car, but having shopped at the Toronto locations for 7 years I've noticed a substantial decline in both quality and customer service over the past 2 years.
