I made an oil change appointment for my wife's 2011 GTI for last Thursday. She took it in at the scheduled time--and it took three hours to get it done. During this appointment, she was advised that the car has an oil leak and was given an estimate of $159 to diagnose it. She declined the service at that time. When I got home I called the service advisor but he didn't give me any more info other than what's on the estimate--an oil leak. Thinking that the basic car/powertrain warranty had expired, I told him that I have the VW Drive Easy Platinum Warranty that should cover the car up to 7 yrs/100K. He said he doesn't have that information. I looked for the contract and called the dealership the next day. I failed to reach the service advisor after two attempts and I left a message for him to call me. No return calls. I made an appointment with another dealership to have the leak checked out this morning. Less than 30 minutes after I checked in, they identified the source of the leak and advised me that the repair is covered by the original 5 yr/60K powertrain warranty. BTW the service advisor only took a 5 minute call to confirm that I have the extended warranty too. Did Autonation VW provide good customer service during this visit? I think not.
