  • I have stayed at this property dozens of times since it was brand new as a Holiday Inn. The property is run down - specially the rooms. We stayed twice this past year - in December and in June. I won't return until they renovate. Over time the hotel has become worn and the new owners have done nothing to improve the property. Beds are horrible, lumpy uncomfortable. Furniture and carpet is worn. Peeling wallpaper in bathroom. Mold. I had a hole in the ceiling in the shower. Also we had to ask for sheets and blankets for the sofa bed and were told they were out of blankets. And the mattress cover did not fit the bed. Big signs now up saying you can't put the thermostat under 70 and if you smoke they will prosecute you! I am not a smoker, but still found the signs offensive. Pet peeve (forgive the pun) of this pet friendly hotel. No place to walk your dog. All gravel and cactus. Location is great, across from the fountain and park. The restaurant on site has also gone south, food was horrible - cold, "old tasting" butter etc. They put new carpet in the hallways but not in the rooms. I stayed this past year also at the Comfort Inn in Fountain Hills and they have renovated and the rooms are nice and the breakfast is FREE. I visit FH 3-4 times per year and will find a new place to stay. If you want a "budget" room on a not so budget price, this is the place for you. I also notice that my room nights don't ever show up on my rewards program. Staff is not friendly and not professionally dressed. The lady that checked us out looked like she just rolled out of bed. When I inquired about checking out she said "you should have a statement under your door" (which we did not). And 2 days we had to request to get the room cleaned.
