| - pros:
- huge variety of dimsum (especially on weekends)
- high quality meat
- yummy desserts
cons:
- metallic water
- some dishes are fresher than others
i've been pleased each time i've had dim sum here. i order mango custard buns, sesame seed balls with red bean paste, steamed barbeque pork buns, sticky rice, shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice noodles, and chow mein.
the mango custard buns are sweet and the bread is fluffy. it is topped with crispy coconut shavings, and makes the perfect dessert. the sesame balls are also great for dessert, as they have a crunchy outside and a sweet inside consisting of glutinous rice flour and red bean paste. the steamed barbeque pork buns are a favorite of mine, as they melt in your mouth and you can detect a hint of honey along with the nice pork flavor. the sticky rice has a bit of a bitter flavor but a great consistency, and has a fill of chicken and a piece of a hot dog in the middle. the shrimp dumplings have a bit too fishy a flavor for my taste but are otherwise good. the shrimp rice noodles didn't have this problem, and the sauce they were topped with had a perfect amount of salt and flavor. tastly, the chow mein was surprisingly flavorful and i loved the large amount of bean sprouts that were in it.
my main complaint about this place was actually the water. it tastes pretty metallic, as if it had come straight out of the tap. otherwise, this place is great for dimsum. go on the weekends for the food carts and greatest variety of dishes.
