I've had my Ford Escape in for service twice to Berge Ford since moving to the East Valley a year ago. I originally went to this location because the reviews seemed better than some of the other local Ford dealers in the area. No major issues with my car - just routine maintenance with oil changes. I give Berge two stars for the inconsistency in their service department. The first time I was in they were adamant that I get new tires and marked 3 of the 4 as yellow on the inspection form (out of the choices: green/yellow/red). I have a 2010 Ford Escape and it is currently 2015 and in addition to the tread my tires are cracked, so it's probably time I get some new tires! One tire was already replaced and the others were originals, so this rating makes sense. I said I would do some research and (likely) buy them elsewhere (i.e. where cheaper). On this multi-point inspection they didn't check my brake lining - but instead checked the box "not completed." I asked the service guy why (can't remember his name) and he said he wasn't sure why they didn't do the whole inspection but just ask next time for it. Not a huge deal.
A few months later I go back for the next oil change and multi-point inspection. This time my tires get all greens and nothing is mentioned about the need for new tires (mind you three of the four tires are still the 2010 originals). I have a feeling that whoever was doing the service looked at the one newer tire only, and then marked all of them green....if he even checked them at all. It makes me wonder - if they are cutting corners on checking all my tires or not completing all points in a multi-point inspection, what else are they cutting corners on?
Additionally, as most dealerships overcharge on parts, they wanted to charge me $30 for a new air filter. At my next routine service (this time not a Ford dealer) the air filter cost $13! They also forgot to apply my coupon I gave them when I dropped the car off. I picked my car up at 3:50 on a Saturday (they close at 4) and I didn't even notice when paying as I was in a hurry to be somewhere. That evening I called once I realized the coupon wasn't applied and got a return call, but it was the wrong advisor. He passed it onto the right guy so I left a new message, but I never got a call back. Is it worth it for me to drive all the way there for my $8 coupon when they don't follow up on their voice mails? Probably not in the grand scheme of things, but for all of the above reasons, I won't be returning to Berge Ford.
