  • I've eaten a lot of steak in this town, more than I should. But what a delightful surprise this restaurant was. Mother in law was in town a few weeks ago, and we were running late to the Gordie Brown show. Originally we were going to try the steakhouse at the El Cortez, because I had a restaurant.com certificate, but we took so long showing her the strip we just didn't have time to go there before the show. So we came here instead, because we could have a quick meal in the same casino. We were seated right away, without reservations. My mother in law and my husband had the fillet, and I had the ribeye. They had a really nice surf and turf going on that night and I should have ordered that, but for some reason the ribeye was calling me, even though I mostly order fillet. I guess I didn't want to copy everyone at the table. We also ordered lobster bisque, caesar salad, and the potatoes gratin, spinach, and asparagus. I have never seen my mother in law get excited about anything we have eaten, in Las Vegas or anywhere else. Mostly when we go out to eat, she constantly complains about the expensive price of restaurants outside of Montana, and acts like she is mad we went out instead of cooking. She did have a fit at first about eating here looking at the prices, but after tasting her food she loudly exclaimed "oh my god, this is so good," and shut up about how much it costs. But this is a woman who grew up on a farm mostly in poverty and worked for the government her entire career, raising my wonderful husband alone, so I cannot be mad at her attitude about it. I try to take her occasionally to nice places because, well, she deserves it. Every steakhouse in town I have eaten at always has something not executed correctly, or the quality of food isn't that great. This literally was the most perfect steakhouse meal I have had. The meat was so flavorful that my husband still dreams about it, and was executed with the right amount of char that we love at the perfect temperature. Sides were so perfect and good they could not have been better. Lobster bisque had lots of nice chunks of lobster in it. I'm not sure why Carnevino and Cut and some of the other steakhouses are considered the best in town, but this really blew everything I have eaten away, including CraftSteak which was garbage compared to this meal. Maybe I will try Carnevino and Cut next just to compare!
