| - I get routine microdermabrasion treatments and peels and am generally loyal to one spa, but I recently moved to the west side of the valley and was not willing to drive an hour to get to Scottsdale for a facial. So I started looking for a place that was closer, and a friend told me I should try Groupon since I'm new to all of these places and I thought it would be a great way to get started. Ageless skin had a nice intro offer for first time clients, over 50% off a microdermabrasion, it was close, and had 4.5 stars on Yelp so I didn't really hesitate. I called the same day to make an appointment and it took three phone calls before actually speaking to someone but I was finally able to make an appointment for a week later. I get a call the day before the appointment and am told that I will have to be rescheduled since there was something going on with her dog. I immediately understood where she was coming from and said that I would be fine rescheduling. Her only other available appointment the rest of the month was one week later over an hour earlier than I had requested, but I said would do it. That day finally comes and I end up getting off work a little late so I call to tell her I would be 15 minutes late to my appointment, and when she says that she has back to back clients and won't be able to see me I offer to reschedule to another time. She then starts telling me (quite condescendingly) that "the way this works" is that I can no longer get the facial for the groupon value because I did not call 48 hours ahead of time so I would have to pay full price. I asked if there was any way we could work something else out and she was very stern about the "fine print". I understand that I was 15 minutes late and that it was my fault, but I was expecting the kind of understanding I gave her on a less then 24 hour notice of cancellation. By exhibiting better customer service, she would have found a long term client. Allowing me to use my voucher would have only given me more room to tip freely ( while still feeling like I was getting a steal). Instead, she was rude and patronizing every time we spoke. She ends up calling me back to ask if I can come in by six the same day. I'm not sure who told her that she can run a successful business by being rude, then trying to take it back. I absolutely did not take accept the offer because I would rather lose the money I spent on the groupon voucher than have to sit in the same room as her for an hour and have my skin prodded at in an uncomfortable environment that she singlehandedly created. As I revisit their Yelp page to post my review, I notice the 4 "not recommended" reviews. Two of them almost exactly depicting my experience. If you were to truly count all the reviews this place has received, almost half of them have 2 or less stars. Interesting..
