  • For a year we needed caregiver services for our elderly, widowed mother whose dementia was progressing, eventually getting to the point that she was not safe alone. We interviewed three agencies and selected FirstLight. They were honest, addressed our questions thoroughly and their online reviews were all favorable. FirstLight was initially asked to provide four-hour in home daily care. As time went on, we needed 24 hour care both at home and then later, in a memory care facility. FirstLight fulfilled our shift needs and was always receptive to changing personnel if needed. We could reach out to them 24/7 and they would promptly respond addressing any needs we had, which was so comforting to the family in this stressful time of trying to assure that mom was safe and comfortable. Jim and Dawn communicated well with mom's whole team of caregivers, getting their input and sharing best techniques for how to take care of mom. While the dementia was progressing making mom increasingly challenging to care for, Jim and Dawn and their caregivers did not let us down. They rearranged caregiver schedules, and found caregivers with the skills and patience to be able to work with mom. FirstLight was also great at recommending many helpful in-home solutions such as safety additions as well as mobile medical care, hair care, podiatrists and more. If needed, they have a registered nurse to make visits or dispense meds too. We children were able to communicate directly with the caregivers which was of utmost importance to us and to us in selecting and keeping FirstLight's services. The caregivers were able to advise us of needed supplies and we were able to advise them when to expect doctors, etc. We retained the services of FirstLight and their caregivers until mom peacefully passed away. For all these reasons, we would recommend FirstLight and are confident in their ability to meet your various needs.
