  • I met someone at Herb 'n Flavors after he found it on Yelp. I did not look it up, so I went in with no expectations. My expectations were lowered as I drove into a terrible strip mall location with a dark parking lot and a giant Burger King in front of it. The interior of the restaurant was bright and clean. I wouldn't recommend taking a date here, as the mood is not really set for it. However, this would be a cute little place to have lunch with friends. I was really in the mood for something healthy, so I ordered a plate with three kinds of hummus (garlic, jalapeno and red pepper) and the vegan spinach/artichoke dip. I also ordered a side of organic veggies, listed on the menu as a $3 upcharge. I really don't like when I am charged a different price than what is listed. The organic vegetables were slices of tomato, cucumber and a bit of carrot. We were charged $4. I don't feel that $4 was warranted for such a small side of veggies, organic or not. The server was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a hot tea, but when she brought out the tea selection with only bedtime, sleep-inducing teas such as chamomile, peppermint and decaf Sleepytime, I decided to go with the Iced Pomegranate Green Tea. It was quite delicious, even unsweetened. Very refreshing! The hummus wasn't great for me, to be honest. I prefer a creamier texture. The garlic was my favorite of the three, bumped up with a little Sriracha. The spinach/artichoke dip was a little plain (could have used some garlic), but I loved it anyway! The hummus plate was served with some pita. It was quite dry, but I was craving the carbs. We ordered a second helping of pita because there was quite a bit of hummus left. There was a $2 charge for the pita. My dining companion ordered the shrimp kebabs, which he thought were fine, but nothing special. He also ordered a side of sun dried tomato something-or-other, which he did not care for at all. Overall, I'd say this place is a 3.5. I am bumping it up because it is a small business using fresh, local, organic ingredients. Also, the server was extremely gracious.
