  • For me, all that matters is the quality of the service and, above all, how great a cafe's coffee is. In this area, Weeds delivers right on the money. I do not need wifi nor lounge sofas, only the best in coffee. I spent a brief period of time sampling cappuccinos and drip coffee and all were excellent with the cap having some of the finest steamed milk to top my drink that I have tried anywhere. The extraction was perfect, neither bitter nor thin. This cafe uses 49th Parallel Roasters coffee beans. Owned by the legendary Piccolo brothers, erstwhile owners of Artigiano before it was sold to Willie Mounzer, they pride themselves in sourcing and roasting the best beans the planet has to offer. Calgary has equals in Phil and Sebastian or Fratello, but they do not eclipse 49th. Although I would not call this my favourite in Calgary, it has absolutely nothing to do with the coffee they serve. I have built friendships and business relationships elsewhere. If you are looking to tantalize your tastebuds with superbe coffee, Weeds is highly recommended.
