I've always paid my rent at least one week before it was due and I felt we had a good working relationship until I gave notice as we had to move due to our jobs. It was then that I saw a change in their demeanor. It almost felt as if they were upset because we were moving to another state and how dare us for doing so.
Needless to say, I was disappointed when I received our deposit. It's like they were nickel and dime(ing) us for every little thing. They charged me $85.00 because they felt their were too many weeds in the yard (we hired a landscaping company three days prior to moving out), several light bulbs needed replacing (OK, sorry for not taking the time to replace them but we left several packages in the house and in the garage. We were still charges $5.00 per bulb.) Trash cans were full. (Ok, so what are we supposed to do with the trash, take it with us?) We were charged $50.00 because they had to wheel the trash bins to the curb. We left on a Monday and waste management doesn't pick until Friday. I'm sure I would have been charged for putting the trash out early.
I've always tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you have to inform others when you're not treated fairly.
