I don't know what all of the excitement is about for AJ's. I can always count on AJ's to offer mediocre items at extremely pompous prices. The coffee isn't horrible, and the sushi isn't bad, but there is much better to be had. Maybe the main thing that annoys me is that AJ's lacks any real unifying theme that other groceries offer. For example, they aren't 'all natural' or 'organic' like Whole Foods, or even quirky and well-priced like Trader Joes. They aren't quite a full grocery and not a farmers market, they're just full of overpriced products that are priced for the sake of being overpriced. And adding molded wooden facades to every corner of the store doesn't help much either.
