| - Ahhh Superstore, of all the "megamart" places available to us, superstore ranks at the top in my books. It just has a lot of the stuff that I love all in one place and the prices here are almost always consistently cheaper than most places (overall anyway)
First off I must tell you the one thing I love most about superstore and that is the asian ingredient section! From all the authentic sauces and canned, dry packed items to the whole spices (which are very modestly priced) to the rice selection and even the fresh stuff like noodles and won ton wrappers ect.. superstore really has some good items that you just cant find at any other mega mart! (at least in calgary) I always just love to take a stroll down the aisle and look at everything, and I buy a lot of my whole spices from here as well, things like fennel seed, cumin, peppercorns, cardamom! no other megamarts I have ever seen carry this kind of stuff in bulk and for me it is a huge deal! Usually you would have to source out some specialty spice shop or order off the internet if you wanted to get these spices in bulk at a reasonable price. So if you want to ditch the stale spices in those little overpriced glass jars then come to superstore and you can find them in big bags for cheap! A really decent selection too i might add! just head to the asian aisle and you will find them!
So next off I really have to tip my hat to the very decent line of superstores flagship brand, "presidents choice" you may have seen the commercials with the head honcho of superstore, Galen Weston and I must say i actually think he is the real deal. I really like a lot of the PC products! they have some really good stuff, everything from ice creams to organic chicken stock to bacon! (which is actually really good!) , they have quite impressive "fast foods" that are always reasonably priced and quite often better than bigger commercial brands. Their line of products are just plain unique!
So much more to say but I will end my review in saying that this location (and many of the other locations) can be pretty hectic at times, sometimes resulting in produce being grossly mistreated aka: piles of cilantro or parsley or dill that are basically dumped in a big pile hhahaha or onions rolling all over the floor, you get the picture.
Overall , I love coming here and always enjoy a good shop for cheap n crappy dvds, Meat, bacon, asian items, rooster band rice and PC lychee soda! superstore (to me anyway) has a lot more personality and character than all the other megamarts that exist in calgary, if you have not shopped here come take a stroll, you just might like what you see and smell!
( they do sometimes stock durian here hahaha, if you dont know what that is , well its a fruit that looks like a giant sea urchin and smells like a baby's used diaper hahahaha no kidding!!)
