| - My trip to Cleveland started with the Drury Plaza Hotel which was an impressive start to my mini vacation. This hotel is located in what I believe is called Gateway Center. I know it has been somewhat recently renovated and it is very beautiful. The building is very large and is right across from the fountain of eternal life. Depending on what floor/room you are in there are some spectacular views.
When you first arrive, assuming you drive, you will have to check your car in at the valet which is $24 a night. The lobby is marbled, quite large, and echo-y. Their second floor overlooks the lobby which is beautiful, but that can make the evening slightly noisy because you can hear everything that is happening in the lobby from your room.
They tout their breakfast as a badge of honor and they rightfully do so. The hot breakfast is much better than your typical Holiday Inn. They have fresh eggs, real pancakes, sausage, potatoes, and many other items to choose from which are continuously made fresh. Their coffee is actually pretty good for hotel coffee too.
They are located close to some really awesome restaurants, bars and cocktail places downtown. It was about an 8 minute walk to many different places that we wanted to try.
I had a very enjoyable stay at the Drury, I only wish it had been one night longer!
