  • Last night the wife and I saw that A Home 4 Spot was going to have the cutest 8 month chihuahua up for adoption at a PetSmart on Rainbow. This morning we got there right as they were setting up to ensure she wasn't already adopted. We get there, hand them our ID and they took her out and let us get to know her. She took to us right away, giving us kisses and cuddling in our arms, we instantly fell in love. We stood in line and got ready to sign the paperwork and we couldn't wait to make her the newest member of our family. We finally got to the adoption agent and said we definitely wanted to bring her home with us. Lady made a stinkface at us and said "yeah, she's a packaged deal. If you adopt her you have to adopt the other dog that was in the cage with her." The wife started to tear up and told her that no where on the cage or the website did it say that. The lady clapped back with "she's been with the other dog her whole life so it's either both or none." The other dog they were trying to get us to adopt was a twice the size of the chihuahua we were trying to adopt, and it would not stop barking. On top of that it doubled the adoption fees so it would have cost us $700 to get a dog we did not want. We tried telling the lady we had a chihuahua that would be her new friend, that I was military, and that we would provide her an amazing life. She clapped back again with "you you have to adopt both, that's just how it has to be!" Wife was completely tore up as was I. She was the sweetest little chihuahua and they wouldn't let us adopt her over some straight up B.S. that wasn't on their cage, wasn't on their site, and they didn't tell us while we were getting to know her. We will never attempt to use them again and will stick to the far superior adoption agency, Friends For Life.
