Rules I've discovered in life... when the pasta is made fresh and in-house, 9 times out of 10 you can expect an unforgettable meal. This rule definitely applied to Piccolo Forno!
Let's start with the service - hostesses were friendly and attentive. We had about a 20 minute wait and they advised us that Piccolo Forno also owned the bar Grapperia, which was about 30 steps away. We decided to walk over and grab a drink, but before we were able to place our order, the hostess called and said our table was ready (winner!).
Once seated, our server Charlie was AMAZING. Very friendly and passionate about the menu. Gave us some great recommendations and was extremely aware and cautious of my daughter's nut allergy when he was walking us through the menu.
I ordered the Spinach Ravioli with Sage Butter (so good), and we had the Crostini di Polenta, Quattro Formaggi pizza & Tagliatelle con Ragu di Agnello for the table. Everything was prepared perfectly and deliciously.
A lot of new places in Pittsburgh are taking a more daring approach with wild and exotic menu items, but Piccolo Forno uses quality ingredients to prepare simple and delicious homemade foods and you can't go wrong with that.
Pro tips: Don't forget your wine or prosecco! Since they are BYOB.
