| - Ah, yes. The mall. It was the 90s. I hung out in my band tee, flannel and Docs, while leafing through records and cassette tapes (c'mon man, CDs were new and expensive). The mall hasn't changed, but the market for it has.
The mall is slow and empty. The stores are mostly chotchkie and specialty. I went specifically to shop at Torrid. I hate trying stuff on, but I'm in a state of change, so I resigned myself to go. Boy, styles have changed, and I'd love to get that tee and flannel back. As my husband surfed Buckle, I spent too much money at Torrid.
What does one do after shopping at the mall? You get a spinach stromboli at Sbarro, of course. And then it hit us. There is a See's candy here. Jumping Jehosephat! Those California Crunch nuggets of goodness didn't see us coming. It's worth it just to hit See's, honestly.
See's, Orange Julius, Hot Topic, Spencers...all the tried and trues are still there. The excitement and trend of the mall is not, sadly. Lost in Amazon, this generation is missing the good times. The socializing, the drama, the Auntie Anne's Pretzels.
Sigh.
