I had the worst experience with this center. They accepted my sister late afternoon and moved her from Thunderbird at about 6:30 in the evening. The room was not prepared and they had her dinner sitting there for who knows how long. She needed her meds which was a narcotic but was told that it wouldn't be ready until the next morning. I asked what other alternative and they told me the best they could do was tylenol. She also should have continued on antibiotics but said they had no order. They took some blood work and the doctor requested it early afternoon but was not done until the next morning because no one wanted to access the port. The first night she was there, the ratio on her wing was one nurse to 22 patients. It also took 20 mins for a nurse to come to in order to assist my sister in using the restroom. We then moved her to another acute facility and by that time she was already in the worst condition. Five days after her release from the hospital she had to be taken to back to Thunderbird and she passed away 2 days later. I don't want anyone to go through this ordeal. Never have your loved one moved late in the day, and I would not suggest moving them to this facility especially if you have other options. Another thing, we were assured that meds and other information would be sent with her and someone dropped the ball here. I believe that if this facility did what they were supposed to do, my sister would have still been alive. We would've caught her infection sooner, and therefore she would've gone to the hospital sooner to get her the help she needed. Again, do not have any of your loved ones go to this facility.
