Yelp day in Wonderland, sure the weather was iffy - but it didn't keep the intrepid yelpers away at all.- and it was a lot of fun. The only regret for me is the fact that I have to admit I don't have the stamina that I used to have.
Let's start on those rides then
Leviathan - Good grief this thing is a monster coaster - line up is big, 45 minutes from the second you walk into the park at park opening - but is this it worth it? Heck yeah - it's long and high and it leaves you with weak knees at the end of it's run. People, who wear glasses and hats - I suggest you take those off, because you'll lose them for sure and since the coaster extends into the parking lot - there is no telling where those items might end up.
Wildebeast - it is a wooden coaster - still loads of fun - but I remember it being less rickety in the past.
Behemoth - like it's little sibling Leviathan - heart stopping amazing - not quite as big or long - but some reason this one left me even more breathless than its' sibling. A must ride.
Hollywood stunt coaster - great setup - zippy and fun - but you do get thrown around a bit.
Food break - head to International Plaza for options - you've got western Chinese food - where there is 0 line up for two massive plates of food - so you won't be hungry. The Pizza Pizza isn't bad- however long line up is definitely a bit of a turn-off. But the turnover for pizza is quite high - so your pizza slice is always pipping hot and fresh.
If you are still hungry - don't forget the Wonderland staple of Funnel cake with strawberries and soft-serve ice cream - pricey - you know you want it.
Also noted - Wonderland has a buffet for $20 now located in Medieval faire. They are also serving Crepes, and souvlaki and falafel too.
If you also have time - seek out the coca cola kiosks 100+ flavour for unique flavours that aren't readily available in stores - yes you do pay a bit more - but if I can get try Cherry Vanilla coke or a peach flavoured Sprite - it's worth it. Although I am still searching for my Watermelon cola from my childhood memories.
Vortex - still one of my favourites after all this time - fast, exhilarating and definitely a heart pounder. The line moves pretty quickly too - so another plus. Only downside - it is over a bit too quickly.
Overall - Wonderland is a great way to spend a summer day. Yes, the charges do add up - but it's like any other amusement park you go to these days. But I will say the food quality here is better than Disney World; excluding Epcot Centre.
One thing that was also noted - Wonderland has no fast pass system a la Disney - but they do have a priority rider wristband - which is almost the full price of another park ticket - but the wristband jumps you to the front of the line of 18-19 of Wonderland's most popular rides (Bat, behemoth, leviathan, etc) - so you get on sooner and most likely are able to ride the adrenaline rushers often. Whether or not this wristband is worth the premium is a question mark - but I have I say I was wishing I shelled out for one - when I was in line waiting to ride.
