Growing up in a very small town on the southern tip of Texas, my cousins & uncles just loved being outdoors regardless of the weather. And if you've ever visited Texas, you'll know exactly what I mean....haha! So during our recent trip to Vegas to visit our daughter who just so happens to be stationed there with the Air Force, I just had to get out and see the real sights of this beautiful place. I'm not much for gambling...so the 15 minutes drive to this place was exactly what I was looking for the second day we were there.
My wife has a bad ankle so we only took in two trails. the first one being the very first trail to the right as you enter the park and holy smokes what a sight! We "hiked" down into the canyon or valley and walked around for a bit while enjoying each others company and taking some breath-taking pictures of the area. On the way up, I found a wonderful rock around 6 inches long that I just had to take a picture of because it resembled an arrowhead....well, to me at least! LOL - it was a picture for my son because he's absolutely LOVES rocks of any shape or form.
On our second trailhike, we took in an easy one that takes you across a wash and into some tress & brush to a slowly dripping waterfall off the side of the canyon. JUST AMAZING!!!
Around this time, my wife and our daughers 2 month old puppy were already about dead to the world, so we decided to head home....but let me tell you, those were some of the best hikes and views I've seen in a very long time.
When we go back in a couple of months, i'll be sure to take in at least another 3 trails and will definitely bring more water! haha...SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
