| - As an omnivore who only wants grass-fed and pasture-raised meats, I was beyond obnoxious (to my family and friends) when Roni opened up The Meat Market in Carefree recently. I am still talking about it repeatedly to anyone who will listen.
It's local to me (I can walk). It's grass-fed. It's fresh. It's custom. It's owned by a great young gal - a female butcher is cool. It just doesn't get any better. (Pinch me.)
Roni, this super-friendly young lady I mentioned, stocks her shop with the best meats that are all LOCAL, grass-fed/pasture-raised, and never frozen (fresh meat makes a difference). She writes on her website that these meats are responsibly raised and respectfully butchered.
Currently, she offers beef, lamb, and pork with the goal of having chicken in the future. As of now, she also offers local, fresh turkey for the holidays (pre-ordered). She also has brats, sweet Italian sausage, and chorizo. What is available one day might not be there the next so if you're looking for something in particular, then call ahead. Personally, I like to be surprised by what's available and decide what's for dinner based on that.
The friendly vibe of this little shop and the delicious products will keep me coming many times a week. I'm elated that I no longer have to buy frozen grass-fed meats (from around the country or locally) and stock my freezer - having to always plan and wait for thawing. Now I can buy and cook the same day.
If you're not local to Carefree or Cave Creek, this little shop is worth the drive. While you're up here, stop by Cave Creek Roastery (ROC2) and grab a bag of organic coffee beans (just down the road - going West - on Cave Creek Road a bit).
