| - This place was a massive sh#%show when Star Wars: The Force Awakens got cancelled due to "unforeseen complications" on 12/27/2015 (5:45pm showing). My family had 6 tickets for VIP 3D, and "the projector for the theatre is broken, no ETA on fix, sorry!!!!" was the response we'd gotten.
Despite people being able to still pick seats downstairs, and buy tickets.
Despite me buying my popcorn and drink (albeit with SCENE points, but still!) and walking in only to realize there was no movie.
Despite there being *NO LATER SHOWINGS*, and all they were going to comp us with was one measly "VIP pass" (strictly "better" than an Admit One, because this let you into D-BOX, IMAX, VIP 3D, whatever, *all included*; at least that was what they were trying to sell you). They weren't going to comp you for the inconvenience. Heck, they weren't even going to give us *two passes per person*, like they'd literally promised *EVERYONE ELSE AT THAT THEATRE THAT WAS STANDING OUTSIDE*. When my uncle called the manager out on that, the manager fed him some line, along the lines of "oh I'm sorry we have to treat everyone equally".
My aunt had to fight tooth and nail to get her 8000 SCENE points back (for 4 VIP 3D tickets), because they originally were saying they would just comp her the "pass" (the pass isn't "better", by the way -- 2000 SCENE points = 1 pass, and they were trying to pawn it off as being "worth" $25 -- this is plainly untrue, as you can tell from doing basic math with what their other ticket prices cost).
Cool. Never going here again for a "special" film or event/showing. Not worth the time, effort, or money. This management needs to get better customer-obsessed hats on to make things up to angry Star Wars fans that only wanted to watch a single movie for a little while with their loved ones. I might come back if the rest of the world is on fire, or the management staff and their "sincerely (fake) apologetic attitudes" towards their "valued moviegoers" all get fired & replaced with better crisis-trained employees, whom hopefully have more respect for the folks that took time out of their day to visit their establishment to watch a movie, only to get turned away because of "problems outside of their control" (it was totally inside of their control - theatres have backup projectors *for this very reason*; this isn't a valid excuse anymore).
For the record, yes, I did see it the next day in IMAX3D, at the same location, because it was the only place that had openings (gee I wonder why?), but the seats left were *terrible* since everyone had picked way better ones, and two of the family members we originally attended with couldn't watch it that day because they both had other plans (gee, I wonder why?).
So thank you, Cineplex Odeon, for ruining a nice family event & then comping us *barely* the value of our tickets / time / gas. I live a 40 minute drive away - thanks for literally *nothing*.
I'd rate this a 1/5, but I'm giving a pity star because the movie was pretty good, and the IMAX 3D screen wasn't half-bad. Definitely not getting upgraded to a 3/5 until they at least understand basic "customer obsession" leadership principles, though.
Wouldn't recommend this place to watch any "special" movie - go there for the ambient noise of the arcade, or the normal theatres. If you go to a "special showing" (3D, IMAX, VIP, whatever), you're taking a *massive risk* of getting your money, time, and good seats swindled (I'm still pretty salty about those lost seats - we originally had *DEAD CENTER AMAZING SEATS*, and the IMAX 3D one we had to sit off to the side.... argh!!!) by a management team that cares for nothing more than to escort you out of the theatre with security if you try to argue (this happened with a reasonably jostled moviegoer after being told his 13 year old kid wasn't going to be seeing Star Wars with his father, on the only day they had together in a long time).
