  • *** If you need to return equipment, do NOT go to the Cox store and wait in line - all I had was an equipment return and I was quoted a ONE HOUR WAIT just to return equipment - instead, call Cox customer service and they will mail you prepaid return boxes for your equipment. *** Full story: Had to return a bunch of equipment from our office - account rep told us to return it to any Cox store. Problem is, everyone who shows up here goes into the same line. It doesn't matter if you're just returning equipment or you have a complex technical issue or you have twenty questions about Cox services; you get in the same damn line. So when I checked in, I was told the wait would be ONE HOUR - just to return equipment! And the staff here just don't want to help. I didn't have an hour to spare (I was on my lunch break since I thought this whole thing would take maybe 5 minutes tops) so I asked if I could make an appointment, if some other time of day was better for less waiting, or if there was any other alternative. The answer was always no, no, no. The manager even started lecturing me on how I shouldn't complain about waiting an hour because other people returning equipment were also waiting an hour! So I shouldn't complain because you treat everyone else like dirt too?? Worst thing is, I called into Cox customer service and they were more than happy to ship me return boxes. I got the boxes two days later via USPS and they already had FedEx prepaid labels on them so all I had to do was drop them off at the nearest FedEx Office. I didn't have to go to the store at all, and why the manager/staff at the Cox store didn't inform me that was an option just boggles the mind. Whether it's lack of training or lack of caring or both, I'm definitely questioning our company's patronage of Cox. BTW, I spend most of my time in Comcast territory and it's crazy that there's someone out there that does things worse than Comcast. At least Comcast there, despite notoriously atrocious customer service generally, has dedicated equipment return lines. They just scan the equipment and give you a receipt and it takes literally seconds. Amazing Cox actually expects customers to wait one hour just to return equipment.
