  • Admitting going to "one of those quick lube joints" to get the oil changed used to be embarrassing. Conventional wisdom dictated that these places were for suckers who paid too much for too little. Maybe that was true once, but it's a changing world. Sure, I've been done wrong by the "cheap huts" before, and I've been done even more wrong by dealerships, specialty garages, and "this guy my friend uses who's whole life is gars." Poor service is universal. That's why, when you find a car place you can trust, you do the little Snoopy dance and never, ever cheat on them. The Jiffy Lube on Durango by Warm Springs is just that sort of place. The staff is consistently courteous, honest, and excellent about not pushing pointless upsells. They never treat me like I've done something contemptuous by not knowing my car's insides as well as they do, and in fact they patiently explain anything I want to know. Service is zippy, but this place is popular, so if there are six cars ahead of you, don't expect to be done in 15 minutes. The waiting room has nicely padded "executive" leather seats, coffee, a clean restroom, recent magazines, and a TV that is always playing a DVD. (After the service tech opens your car door, he will walk you to the room and point all of this out.) You can also go next door to Sonic or a sandwich shop, but don't plan on having time to eat. (That said, Jiffy Lube doesn't mind if you take your time coming back.) Price is reasonable - what you'll pay for an oil change depends upon which of the five types of oil you choose. Your tech can explain the benefits/drawbacks of each, and you can also consult the chart on the wall. (And no, they don't try to guide you to the most expensive one. They have their recommendations - in my case something in the middle - but it's more about you making an informed choice.) In addition to the oil change, you get all of the usual fluid checks, tire checks, light checks, wipers, etc... and my fave - the vacuuming! When it's all done, the tech will lead you to your car - door-to-door service, if you will. Like a previous reviewer, I had the amazingly personable Mark on our most recent visit, but everyone I've met here over the past couple of years has been great.
