| - Unfortunately, I have to update and drop a star from my last review. Yalla has switched from being a counter-service joint to being a typical sit-down restaurant. There's no more ordering from the counter, no more self-service drinks, etc.
This would be fine, especially as they've upgraded their dining room with comfy seats and bigger tables. But the problem is that on all of my recent visits, there has only been one waitress working - and she handles everything: Hosting, taking orders, food running, bussing, payments, etc. That's just not enough when there are more than even 2-3 tables of people. My typical visit now involves walking into a dining room full of unoccupied tables littered with dirty dishes, waiting a long time to order, never getting timely refills, and waiting a long time to get the check. What can you expect? It's not her fault, one person can't handle all those duties when it's busy.
To boot, the food has become inconsistent. Some days, it's as good as it's ever been, while other days it's just off. For example, my kofta last trip was painfully dry and tough, and my friend's rotisserie chicken was burnt to a crisp.
Honestly, I'm a bit hesitant to try Yalla again. If the food continues to be as poor and inconsistent as on my last visit, I will probably have to dock another star.
