  • I know what you're thinking. Las Vegas offers scorchingly ceaseless heat as it is -- for free! Who would actually pay to voluntarily shack up in a room with temperatures in the triple digits and intentional high humidity? Well, it's a pretty invigorating and mindful experience! A different kind of workout high, both physically and mentally. My friends and I signed up for Body Heat's 10 days for $10 trial period. While I definitely do NOT consider myself a yogi, I've signed up for plenty of introductory deals at different studios around town so I know what's available and can compare accordingly. STUDIO AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Clean, but small. Lobby area stylishly furnished. I believe there's only 2 rooms, purple and green. I loved the lavender facecloths in the fridge in the hallway -- refreshing. Most times the front desk ladies at check-in seemed aloof and expressionless. Deduct star. The only exception was the older woman with the blonde pixie-cut, she was so friendly. EXPERIENCE: I had the chance to take Body Heat 1 Intro, Candlelight Yin, and All Levels Power Vinyasa. I took Body Heat 1 three times with different instructors -- One I can't remember, one was pregnant with a soothing yet fluctuating British accent, and one was Teresa who formally introduced herself to me and actually adjusted my form. It's a good beginner class. Candlelight Yin was a little disappointing. It was relaxing, but there were only two fake candles in the front of the room, so it was dark. Vinyasa reminded me of Body Heat 1, but the repetitive poses were more apparent. Tas was the instructor and she seemed the most down-to-earth. Overall, they offer maybe 10 different classes, but not much variety. PRICING: From the start, I knew I wasn't going to go beyond the trial period. Why? Because Body Heat's monthly rate is probably the highest at $129 (auto-pay option $99) and no student discounts. Deduct star. The only good part about expensive memberships is the exclusivity -- meaning smaller class sizes and room for you to practice without getting sweated on by your neighbor. (I took a class where there was literally only 4 other people with me.) MY ADVICE: JUST DO YOUR RESEARCH! Figure out what you prioritize most, then go from there. Example: TruFusion across the street has THE most beautiful studio in my opinion providing a wider array of classes and is $79.99 (student price $55), BUT apparently they're always packed now and lack an online sign-up. Vegas Hot's monthly is only $39.99 (student $29.99), BUT their studio's so dirty and they force you to tip each class you attend. Evolution Yoga is fairly new and have yet to try, but their current rate is at $49.99. Try a bunch of studios, then decide for yourself!
