Went to a work function last weekend at the Shriner's Centre and it was a great hall for the event! The main meal was Beef Wellington, but I had a gluten-free steak instead. My steak was still pink in the middle; not the dried piece of leather that a lot of catering joints try to pass off as meat. And, much to my surprise, hearing I was gluten-free, the kitchen prepared a beautiful dish of fresh fruit for my dessert while everyone else was eating tiramisu (which looked fantastic!).
The room itself was quite lovely and the serving staff were very on top of things. If I was ever responsible for booking a function, I would definitely consider the Shrine Centre.
The only thing a little unfortunate is that the centre is pretty far out in NW Calgary, so for people who have had too much to drink - a cab ride home can be pretty costly.
