  • Not a BIG chocolate fan, but this is fun! For full disclosure's sake I am typing this while a piece of Ethel M dark chocolate is melting in my mouth! I'll be honest with you, I do not have a sweet tooth and I am not particularly crazy about chocolate, but I tell you, Ethel M Chocolate Factory and its Cactus Garden in Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to visit whenever I am there with a few first timers who are chocolate lovers! Over the years the setup of the factory has changed, but the basic idea is the same, you walk in (if at the right time) and get to see how the chocolate is made, then you end up at the store to taste and purchase a couple of your favorite chocolate flavors. This time I noticed that there is even a "chocolate tasting" room where for a fixed fee you get to sit and taste a few different flavors. TIP # 1: If you are on yelp, you might get a discount on the tasting fee when you check in, so do not forget that! My taste for chocolate is very simple! I like it dark and bitter (the less the sugar, the better), but everyone has their preference and there are plenty of choices to pick from in the store. TIP # 2: Always look around for what may be on sale, you could find your favorite chocolate for a much discounted price. Finally, the cactus garden. I am not an expert on cacti, but every time I visit Ethel M, I walk around and educate myself on the different varieties of cacti. On a nice day this could be fun and will help you burn a couple of the calories you just consumed in the store in the form of delicious chocolate!
