I've known about the amazing reputation of this place for years, YEARS, but still never stopped until recently. Why I waited so long when I live 10 minutes away, I don't know. Perhaps it's the temptation of having this place so close, it's dangerous for my waist line.
This bakery is wonderfully quaint. They sell bite-sized pieces of heaven in the form of macarons. They are lovely. Prices are reasonable as well; $2 each or $11.25 for a half dozen.
You can't really go wrong with other pastries too.
The only thing that's prompting me to give four stars instead of five is the woman at the counter I've dealt with several times. She's not rude, per se, but she's a little curt/impatient with people. I don't think it's a 'she's having bad day' thing, either. She's seemed miserable every time I've encountered her. That's not to say you should be chipper with a smile plastered on your face at 8 a.m., but it puts a slight damper on the experience when you're being rushed to make a decision because they were out of something you wanted.
Either way, that shouldn't deter you. Coming here is probably worth encountering several obstacles.
