| - I joined this gym (this particular location) with my husband because he was really wanting to join. Please understand, I'm not a gym rat and most often prefer to workout at home, so I'm going to be a little pickier in ways that perhaps others wouldn't be.
First off, everyone that we've had any dealings with have been very nice and helpful and were not intimidating in the least. I had my assessment done with Matt, who was awesome! I was scheduled with Kristen, but she wasn't able to make it and so, at first, I was wary of working with a younger male (I'm over 50), because I've had negative experiences in the past with them not understanding the realities of limitations due to age/build/injuries. But this ended up not being an issue with Matt at all. He knew exactly where to start and what to do and not do while still providing a great all over body workout routine. He was very respectful and didn't have an inflated ego; just a really nice guy.
Now the reason I can't give it five stars. I'm not crazy about the layout of the gym. Too many cardio machines for how many are on them even at some of the higher peak times, and too small of a cross training type area. It's very limited and cramped, and the space is used for personal training, so if a trainer and client are in there, it all but ends anyone else's workout. There is another floor mat area outside this section, but it has even less available. Some dumbbells, medicine balls, and stability balls. The music being played doesn't help motivate a person; really need better music, lol. And the color scheme is drab gray. It feels a little depressed between the color and lighting. Obviously, this is just my opinion and someone else may love it. Last of all, the machines seems geared mostly for the average large male; which can often be the case in most gyms; but after having memberships in other gyms with machines that are more easily utilized by a wide spectrum of builds, it's a frustration.
In all, I can still get a good workout in and definitely challenge myself more than I can at home. Between the staff, the nice locker rooms, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and yoga and spin classes, the gym has a lot to offer. I thinks it worth anyone looking for a gym to at least check out and see if it's right for you.
