My girlfriend and I shared the Mini Pata plate (#8).
This is a classic and extremely popular Filipino dish.
The portion size was plenty for the two of us.
The pig trotter was perfectly prepared with the combination of four textures, including the crispy and crunchy skin, the tender and succulent meat, the sticky and yummy fat, and the gelatinous tendon.
We are awarding 4 stars as a result of how well prepared this dish was from a small restaurant located in a food court at a shopping mall.
The service is prompt and courteous and the prices are reasonable for a mall restaurant.
On our second visit my girlfriend and I tried the Lechon plate (#13).
This is a standard Filipino dish served at all special occasions.
The portion size was plenty for the two of us.
I can confidently say that the food was as good as you would find at a similar type of restaurant in the Philippines.
Most if not all Asian cultures have some version of roast pig and this is my favorite among all of them.
They way that Filipinos prepare roast pig results in the most crispy, crunchy skin along with meat that is still succulent and this restaurant achieves that very well.
This will certainly continue to be one of our regular dining spots at Mekong Plaza.
