Please, please get a second opinion if they say you need a new a/c, no matter how hot it is getting in your house. I regret not getting one to this day. 5 summers ago, my unit stopped working. The service tech immediately told me I needed a new unit. It was hot. I had a baby. I had family in town. I fell for it and paid $8900 for a new ac unit for a 1370 sq/ft house. I call it the Heat Wave Special. For all I know, I just needed a $300 part! No other option was given but to replace it.
Later that year, I had a tech come out to service my heater/furnace. He said I'd be lucky if it worked another year and started in on his sales pitch. $5500 for a new heating unit. I literally laughed out loud and explained how they were already into me for $8900 for the new ac unit. He told me to get a good carbon monoxide detector then. Heater is still working 5 years later.
When I drive by the billboards, I swear the guy is laughing at me, not smiling.
I gave 2 stars because they at least replaced my ac the same day (and it was a Saturday) for my $8900.
