  • First of all, as is the case with many services, so much of the experience at Diamonds Direct depends on who you're being helped by. If you look at the various reviews, you'll see "who you get" is a big factor in what your experience here is like. The same was true for me. When I first came, I needed to have my engagement ring resized - a ring that wasn't purchased at Diamonds Direct. I fully expected to pay for the resizing, but upon picking it up, I was told by Linsay that it was on the house. I was really impressed by this gesture, and resolved to come back to Diamonds Direct when it came time to buy wedding bands. When I purchased the wedding bands, I was helped by Dave, and the experience was merely OK. The decision on my band had felt a little impulsive, and when I got home, I realized I actually wanted something else - it didn't look right with my engagement ring. I returned to the store to upgrade to a more expensive band and Dave obliged. When my new ring arrived, I debated for several weeks and concluded it still wasn't what I wanted. I felt like a lunatic, returning for a third time, but I figured it was worth a try...I'm going to wear this ring every day, I shouldn't have reservations about it. So for my third visit to the store, I was helped by Kate. After some deliberation, I actually decided I wanted to downgrade to a simple, plain gold band. I fully expected there to be some passive-aggressive irritation about this, and some pushback, because the ring I actually wanted was a fraction of the cost of the one I had most recently bought. But no. Kate was absolutely gracious about this and made me feel like this was absolutely fine. I was really wowed. They didn't have to be this flexible about my exchange, and could have probably dismissed me as a Goldilocks-type nutcase given that I was looking at a third ring option, but they were polite, professional and accommodating, and issued me a refund for the difference in price between the rings. It also bears mentioning that it was Valentine's Day, so the place was a bit of a zoo. Despite how busy it was, the staff was poised and professional, and my exchange was not handled like it was any less important than a large-ticket sale. To me, this is the hallmark of a high-end sales professional. I've settled on a very modest wedding band, but I'm finally happy with it. And I'm happy with Diamonds Direct, because they're intuitive enough to know that a satisfied customer is worth more in the long run than one single sale. My first and latest visits really won me over. Thanks to the quality of their customer service, particularly from Linsay and Kate, I'll not only be recommending their store, but I'll be a repeat customer for future (and hopefully more extravagant!) purchases.
