Went to iFly Toronto for my husband's and my daughter's birthday. What a great way to experience the sensation of skydiving. The technology in this 10million dollar facility is amazing. It's a recirculating wind tunnel that is controlled by an operator. The fans are mounted from above and the air is forced down the sides of the wind tunnel and recirculates back up the centre. The operator adjusts the wind speed according to your weight and stability. An instructor helps guide you into the right position and once you get the hang of it, the wind tunnel operator can increase the wind speed so that you get some more height.
Before your session, you learn how to get into the right position in a short training session. Next you get geared up with a jumpsuit, goggles, helmet and earplugs. (The wind tunnel is very loud) Then it's time to enter the sealed chamber where you'll get to experience what it feels like to free fall. They offer a two flight introductory package but we did the four flight and I'm glad. Each flight is a minute. It's amazing how subtle changes in your position can make you turn, rise and fall. Mostly I just hovered with a big grin on my face thinking, "I can't believe I'm doing this!!" So much fun to do in a group of family or friends.
