  • The staff here is friendly. The store is clean and decent for browsing. It can be hard to find software nowadays but who goes to Staples looking for copies of Adobe Premiere Pro anyway?... The prices here have the the weakness. These brick and mortar stores have a hard time competing with online shopping. But there is 1 aspect that I do like: Furniture protection plan. Most extended warranty plans are a waste of time, money and paper. Staples ESP is worth every penny. I bought a new office chair about 5 years ago. A few months before my 3 year plan ended the wheel broke off of the chair. Not knowing how the warranty plan worked, I brought the chair into the store and they told me to just call it in. Within a day, I was back at the store and bought another chair with a gift card. I bought the warranty plan again. Last month, the same thing happened (I'm a big guy and the office is carpeted and I'm a fan of those mats) again. Called it in, I had the gift card that day. This time it was back to school season so chairs were on sale. I took the gift card and we got 2 chairs (same one for me and a smaller mesh back chair for the wife) with it. We both got the ESP again. I have never felt like the warranty people were giving me the run around. I do wonder if they make it a bit too easy (as in people could simply say something broke when it didn't. A couple members of the staff there even mentioned that... something I'm not overly comfortable with. I figure that if a manufacturer honors their warranties I don't want to abuse it!). I do feel that the staff upsells the plan a bit much. They mention that it covers stains, the cushions wearing down, etc. Last time I read the warranty it said it did not cover that. I'm not sure if it has changed in the past few years but I intend to read and find out. I've had extended service plans from other big box electronics stores before and they usually find a way out of honoring them, only cover 1 year (this one covers 3 years), or make you feel like you are out to cheat them whenever you start a claim. This plan alone is worth it for furniture to me. The selection and prices on other items are the only reason I don't give it a 4.
