Beautiful museum with a variety of art, seeming to specialize in Canadian artists. Too bad it was so overcrowded during our visit, because that impacted my enjoyment of the exhibits a little. Even though it was a weekday there were hundreds of high schoolers on field trip. There are so many galleries it isn't really realistic to get through them all. Pick and choose what you're most interested in. I recommend the decorative arts gallery as it had a lot of interesting artefacts and was far less packed than many of the other galleries.
The pricing structure is interesting: for the permanent collections you are only charged if you're between 30 and 65(?). This situation worked fine for me since I'm in my 20s but my friend felt a bit discriminated against for age, though clearly they do it because they expect that age demographic to have more disposable income.
Also check out the cafeteria! It's small but nice and not as insanely expensive as many museum cafeterias.
