| - Like many of the other ladies here, I purchased a Groupon for Beauty One, under the impression that I was, uh, you know, actually getting a deal. It was kind of disappointing to know I paid $45+ when the regular service for the same exact thing is actually a little less (again, like another reviewer noted, pay in cash and skip the tax).
The salon itself is small, but clean and presentable. There is a very tiny waiting area, and the actual procedure is done in a room with space for two beds. I was beginning my application around the same time another woman was finishing hers. Naturally, I stole a quick peek at hers and liked what I saw.
There was a serious language barrier when I tried to explain what I wanted to my esthetician. I ended up sort of just trusting her to do what she wanted and hoping for the best. I got this done in early April 2015, right before I was going to Mexico, so I wasn't too fussy. I just wanted an easy, natural look that would let me look awake and cute, but without actually applying mascara, eye makeup, etc.
The procedure didn't take too long because she seemed to know what she was doing. My eye area was properly wiped down, taped shut, and I was given information on what steps to take regarding aftercare (ie. no hot showers/saunas, etc. for 24 hours and so on).
I had no issues with the actual application, although I was pressured quite a bit into buying more lashes. She kept trying to tell me I have "big, Indian eyes" and need more lashes....thanks for the compliment, doll, but I'm not biting. I insisted that 50-70 was more than enough, knowing full well that she'd probably try to go closer to 50 lashes than 70.
I don't know exactly how many lashes were actually applied, but I ended up with a fluttery, slightly doe-eyed look that I adored. They were a bit longer and more glam than I anticipated (they hit the lenses of my glasses a bit) but my lashes were pretty soft and didn't have that brittle feel that shitty eye extensions tend to have. The glue didn't irritate me, and I didn't feel rushed out the door after the lashes were applied.
The lashes lasted me a good month before a few began to fall out here and there. Fortunately, they fell out fairly evenly, so it didn't even look that bad. I opted not to get a refill, instead choosing to let them drop off naturally and give my own lashes a little breathing space.
In my experience, this was one of the better of the 'lower' end eyelash extension places. I only came here once, though, so I'm still unsure if this positivity would last over several visits. I think I would come back here again, but only if I wasn't preparing for anything particularly important and wouldn't freak out over losing some lashes here or there. The service was decent and it's conveniently located. Their standard pricing is reasonable and the space is clean. Not a bad place to try out.
