  • I have been to Parliament three times now: for a Yelp event, for their soft opening, and as a regular paying customer. Each experience was a good one! At the Yelp event, I got to try a hot chocolate, brownie, Nutella croissant, and the Parliament (dark) roast coffee. It was all good but the brownie and Parliament roast were easily my favorites. At the soft opening, I tried a pretzel. It was tasty and is a nice change of pace when it comes to coffee shop eats. It's not something I'd get every time I go, but that is more just personal preference with food in general. Today I went as a regular paying customer and I am happy to report that the pleasantries at the Yelp event and the soft opening carry in to every day business. The baristas were super friendly, service was fast (although this was 5 minutes after opening so it was still slow). I had the Parliament roast and a cup of muesli. The coffee was as delicious as I remember it being and the muesli is SO FREAKIN GOOD. I have never had muesli before, so I have no basis for comparison, but it is a nice texture and the perfect amount of sweetness. Definitely will be getting this combo for breakfast again. They have a decent but not overwhelming list of beverage options, a pastry case that is pretty tempting, and a fridge with a wide variety of salads, quick bites, sandwiches, and non-coffee beverages (this is where I found my muesli if anyone is interested). They had a nice curry chicken salad cup that I really want to try next. As for the vibe, my impression is that it is the perfect combo between super comfy coffee shop and super sleek coffee shop. I feel like I could easily set up my laptop and work from here -- it doesn't feel so cozy that I wouldn't get anything accomplished but is definitely more comfy than my cubicle. There are plenty of seats, some are stools at the tables and others are bigger chairs throughout the room, and it looks like it would be easy to lock a laptop to a table (this is an important feature to me, at least when picking a spot for remote work, so thought I'd mention it). It also feels like a good place to meet a friend on a Saturday morning for coffee and conversation. This is really conveniently located to my home and office so I can easily see myself here a few times a week. There are so many places to grab a caffeinated beverage, even within a few blocks of Parliament. But I am a huge fan of the Parliament roast and the spaciousness of the shop. I plan to have many more visits here and hope they are all as good as my first three visits have been!
