| - We have been to Las Vegas many times and have tried other hotels, and some are great, but The Venetian is the best by far. It is simply perfect, from the rooms to the entire staff. You will never want to leave and we left only once or twice.
We decided what better way to celebrate our anniversary, than to bring our 10 year old grandson. We have been to the Venetian, but not with a child and I was concerned the hotel might not want kids. They do. I called and spoke to a wonderful man (I am so bad with names, Ciecel maybe) and asked him 10 different ways what the hotel really thought about having children there. We talked about the pools, the rooms, places he would enjoy eating and are you sure the hotel is child friendly. He convinced me it was and that our grandson would have a blast. He was right.
We checked in, and the woman taking care of us was so kind, I had my grandson standing next to me and she spent the time to look at various rooms and how far a walk it was to certain pools and certain areas. She pulled out a map and picked for us the most perfect room. It had a view of the pools, and the strip. It was magic.
The rooms are all suites and spotless. They just don't have a bad room and we have been many times. There is a place for everything and we had 3 televisions, a great desk for my lap top and the beds are so comfortable.
I had no idea that our daughter had called ahead to tell them we were on a big anniversary. She was willing to pay for something extra to be in the room. What the hotel did was leave us, at no cost to our daughter, the most beautiful selection of strawberries dipped in chocolate and fresh fruit and a few cookies. I was in shock and our grandson was in heaven --hey kid, I think those are for the adults--he was so happy.
The Venetian has about 9 pools and kids are welcome in all but 2 of them, which I think is great. I love the idea that those that want peace and quiet can have wonderful pools without kids, leaving the families with kids many beautiful pools from which to choose. Our grandson tried them all and just did not want to leave the pool area ever.
On one day the wind came up very fast and hard. I was alone with my grandson in the pool area and there were few people there. The wind was becoming really bad and I was a bit concerned--I do have some mobility issues. The pools all had to be closed for the day because of the wind. While I was trying to gather my things a kind young woman saw that I was having some issues and came to me to help. She got me wrapped in a towel, she helped me find my things, she stayed with me and my grandson who was attached to my leg. She helped me get to the doors to the hotel where my husband, who had looked out the window of the room and saw people moving, came out to try to find me. She was so sweet and I wish I recalled her name. The pools were reopened as soon as the winds died down enough to be safe.
Room service is great there and the food is the best, but it can be expensive if you have a child who wants room service everyday. The hotel has the best food court (it has more than one). My husband went to the food court and came back with great Johnny Rocket burgers, some Asia food and some cake. We put it all on a tray that was in the room and room service my grandson had. He loved it and so did we. We were able to relax from a long day of pool and fun.
The hotel is located on the Strip near everything you want to do. You can walk down the Strip to other hotels and eateries. We did this once and it was so much fun. The Mirage is right across the street and you can watch its volcano go off, or you can walk to White Castle for a snack or a great eatery. It is all within walking distance of the hotel. We also left to take our grandson to downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience. That was okay, but there is a lot of riff raft there, so we left.
We rarely left the hotel. They have the best restaurants and kids are welcome and I assume you all know that bringing a child to a high end restaurant means he or she needs to have proper manners. You also don't walk into some of the finer establishments dressed for a pool party. Bring a nice jacket with you and I suggest a tie.
The casino areas are the best. My husband had a great time and there is every game you can imagine. The hotel also has the best entertainment rooms. While we were there Steely Dan was playing in the main room. They were great, of course and the prices were the same as if you had gone to Ticketmaster, just without the insane fees.
Upon check out, the staff was helpful, our bags were waiting for us out front, check out was a breeze, we could have done it over the television, but I wanted to thank the staff.
The Venetian is simply the best hotel in Las Vegas.
Have the best time. Remember, while on the strip or downtown, your wallet is in your front pocket and no, you don't want to attend a seminar or buy a Rolex.
