  • We were tired of the buffets and food on the strip, so we decided to find some good asian food. With Yelp's recommendations, we headed to Chinatown! Like other reviewers mentioned, this is a small, hole-in-the-wall type of ramen place. We arrived late at 9:45pm though, and the wait was not too bad... a little over 20 minutes for our party of 5. They have several tables for twos and fours, but for groups larger than 6, they offer to split your party up. We ended up sitting in the big middle table with bar stools. Even with all the people waiting, the servers had a really fast turnaround with cleaning the tables and getting people seated. At first I was worried about eating hot soup for dinner since the vegas temps were really high (111 in the afternoon and 105 still later in the evening), but after waiting for a table we all got acclimated to the light air conditioning, and we weren't sweating trying to eat our soup. Problem solved! Food: There were three main types of broth here- soy sauce, miso, and salt (shino). Four of us opted for the salt ramen and my dad tried out the sora deluxe ramen. We also got a side order of fried rice, which was really flavorful! The salt ramen was very good; not quite up to par (and a little watery) in comparison to the excellent ramen available in the West LA and Irvine area (Sankutora, Tatsu, etc.) but for Las Vegas, it's pretty good. The rest of my family, who only eats ramen occasionally, loved it and my dad enjoyed the deluxe with miso broth. My soup did not come with mushrooms like ramen sometimes does, but it did come with a half egg at no extra charge, which was nice. The noodles were chewy and cooked perfectly. Everything came out to around $40- an excellent deal considering the quality and location. Four stars!
