Our original flight to Vegas was cancelled so we weren't able to check in to Stratosphere until 11pm. Although we made a reservation for a smoke free room (I have asthma), they only had a smoking room available with the assurance that we could probably change rooms the following day. Our room was on the 10th floor and upon exiting the elevator you can tell that this was a smoking floor. We walked into our room and the stink continued so we decided to head over to the nearby Walgreens to buy some candles and Febreze. The next day we went to the front desk to request the room change. The guy at the counter told us to check back when we return from breakfast and hopefully by then they would have a room available. We checked back at 10 and they told us to call at 11am. We start packing our stuff and at 11 am I call the front desk and after a brief hold we were told they were not able to honor our request to change rooms after all because they were already booked. They said that they could send a person over to our room with an ozone machine to clear out the smell. 30 min later, no machine. So I called housekeeping and they said they'll contact the front desk. They called me back and told me that someone will be there with the machine but I would have to vacate the room for half an hour. I waited and 20 min later someone finally shows up with a machine and the top of her t-shirt covering her mouth. I asked her if she was ok and she replied, "It's a lot of smoke on this floor." Duh! After this ozone treatment the room smelled a little better but we kept the candles burning and used the spray often. The upside of this hotel include the $5 tables and the free admissions to the top of the stratosphere. I probably would never stay here again. I guess you get what you pay for!
