I should preface this review with saying, I'm an airport enthusiast - and I can't remember the last time I saw them open an airport...so we should hold on to every last one of them.
That said, I could see why United was pre-flighting to depart this location later this summer. The Airport is SUPER spread out. I'm talking Dulles or Charlotte big, minus the planes and people. I couldn't for the life of me understand why they needed that much real estate. They had several separate locations to go through security, cops everywhere on Segways because of the layout, and yet...all of TWO people boarding the flight to Morgantown. All these bells and whistles subtract from the bottom line resulting in higher ticket prices.
I'm sad to see this hub downsized, but feel that it's a smart business move for UAL. Hopefully this place can find their Chi and revitalize & re-plan the layout for tomorrow's passenger flow!
I was nostalgic walking through knowing this would probably be the last time passing through before shutting down the terminal. Good memories traveling with family!
PS - Minus points for some of the dirtiest bathrooms this side of the Mississippi, 1 plug outlet every 2.5 miles, and fat cops on Segways (fail).
