  • Groupon is bad news when all is said and done. The manager made me whole monetarily but the experience made me angry, and that ruined the evening.  I responded to an ad for a $20 groupon and wound up buying a $40 Groupon accidentally. I didn't even realize it was an option until it was too late. Well, a $40 groupon will work when I take my family but tonight it'll just be us two so I went ahead and also bought the $20.  Turns out, three of us went so I expected to use the $40 Groupon after all. When I went to redeem it, the waitress said oh the fine print says for four people and you only have three.  Nevermind that we had over $50 in food between the three of us (and adding alcohol we were just shy of $80.) I didn't want the $40 Groupon to begin with and felt tricked into purchasing it, and now the waitress is telling me I am violating the small print, but I could use a $20 groupon. (Now, why would she think I might have both?). And she kept going on and on about it and finally I told her to stop! Just stop talking. I was angry now, the night was ruined at this point feeling that I had been swindled and I simply wanted to leave.  By this time they had both of my groupon numbers and I clicked redeem on the $20 one. Apparently she let the manager know I was not happy and he said they can use the $40 groupon after all.  But now both groupons show redeemed so to make up for it they gave me a $20 gift card. (And I tipped based on the $80 sale even though the waitress could have prevented the whole episode.)  So ok, yeah, I am not out anything moneywise.  But the experience was infuriating and not one I want to repeat.  I won't remember my meal in a couple months but I will always remember this terrible Groupon experience at Double Wide.   Groupon just isn't worth it.
