A local Las Vegas resident suggested that I try Ella Em's while in town. He stated that it was recently voted Best Soul Food in Las Vegas. So I ventured off the strip and made the $20 Uber ride to the North side.
I ordered the smothered pork chop entree which comes with three sides and cornbread. Already too much food but I kept my sides safe as I really am not too adventurous with my soul food. Not everyone from the South has good food. My sides were the yams, fried cabbage, and macaroni and cheese. Nothing was awesome. The yams were out of a can but they tasted as if they added nutmeg to give it their own special touch. The fried cabbage was too salty for me to enjoy. And the macaroni and cheese was just...wrong.
My pork chops were three of the hugest slabs that I have ever seen. They were the best part of my plate. However, it made me wish that I ordered my beef gravy on the side; as they also were too salty.
It didn't take me long to get full with the huge portions and I ended up giving my leftovers to the beggar outside.
