| - I have two dogs (8 months and 2 years) and a cat (13 years), so I'm at Dilworth Animal Hospital quite frequently. I mean, I have a running joke with the front of house staff that I need a VIP card/am single handedly funding the addition they're having built. That being said, they are by far my favorite vet I've ever been to. My pets have gone to several of their staff members, and they are all fantastic. Dr. Wheelock even gave me his cell and home number on my first visit in case I needed to contact him outside business hours, since my cat was being put on a new medication.
We'll start with the dogs. Both of my dogs LOVE it here. That is unheard of. They're both 50ish lb boxer mixes, and the staff is wonderful with them. Whether it's a scheduled visit or I just pop in because something is wrong (which I love- you can stop in without calling, and you're usually seen within 15 minutes, no extra charge), they're always thorough and gentle, and try to get you out with as low a price tag as possible. They also call you a few days after your visit to make sure everthing is resolved.
My cat is a bit more of a money pit, but that comes with the territory of an aging pet. He hates anything that involves leaving the house, so naturally he's terrified at the vet, but they're wonderful with them. Once the vet/tech is handling him, he settles down to the point they rarely need help to hold him still. On the rare occasion that he has to stay overnight, the receptionists make a point to give him extra love and attention, and try to make him as comfortable as possible.
Basically, this vet is the best. I have no idea what I'm going to do whenever I move out of the Charlotte area, because the average vet has been thoroughly ruined for me.
