| - I am heading out tomorrow to buy a new dishwasher to replace the piece of junk these guys sold me.
After using them for years we got royally screwed by Castle at the worst time possible. Our families all used Castle for our home appliances and we all trusted them for years. Fridges, washers, dryers you name it everything came from them without question.
Two years ago this past November my mother in law passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. We were all dealing with all the things you have to deal with when a loved one dies and the dishwasher died. I mean dead dead dead. So I did something I would not normally do. I called Castle and said I trust you. I didn't do any research or background checking or anything. I explained that we had just had a death in the family and that I couldn't look into these things. I told them to just recommend a good dishwasher and bring it out and install it. I didn't even quibble about price.
They brought us a GE piece of junk. It was badly installed by a fireman they sent instead of a plumber. It didn't work at all for the first few days. My husband looked into it and found that he had forgotten to untape the spinning arms so the water could spray the dishes. It did get slightly better but not much. I called Castle a half a dozen times and explained that it wasn't cleaning the dishes. They told me to change soap, get a water softener, turn the water temperature up on the hot water tank, run the hot water for five minutes before running the dishwasher. I tried all these things and the piece of junk still wouldn't clean dishes. And besides that the door was very sticky and hard to open.
They finally sent out a technician who treated me like I was a moron and told me to try all the same things again. He said that I was probably just not loading it properly. So basically I was stuck with it. I complained twice more that it was still not working but they just didn't care. I hate the way it loads and called and asked if there was a different rack I could use that would hold more dishes. They treated me like I was from Mars and said that you couldn't just interchange racks. Liars. The next weekend we were out at a garage sale and we saw a Maytag dishwasher for sale for parts. We bought the racks for $1 and they fit perfectly. At least now it holds a few more dishes.
A few months later I had my floors replaced and they had to remove the dishwasher. At which time they discovered that it had not been hooked up properly and was leaking and the water pipes were bent and twisted which is why it wasn't working very well, why it was not cleaning - no pressure, and why it was leaking. JERKS!
Anyhow, once it was re-installed correctly it still didn't clean very well but it was certainly a lot better. I still hate how it doesn't clean, how noisy it is, and how even with JetDry I always have to dry dishes and rewash the silverware 90% of the time.
Anyhow, I am off to buy a new dishwasher to replace this hunk of junk two years later. I really wish Castle hadn't been such jerks about taking care of these problems when we needed them the most. It is such a shame that even after years and years of establishing a relationship with these guys I still shouldn't have trusted them.
In the past two years I have replaced the fridge, gas cook top, and built in wall oven at our farm. I have replaced a washing machine at one rental property and just recently bought a new washer and dryer for another rental property. Now I am off to replace the dishwasher at the farm. And none of my business will ever go to Castle Appliance - and yours shouldn't either.
