| - Do 1 thing and do it well. That's sort of how they do things here a Steam Whistle.
The story behind them is the 3 owners all worked at Upper Canada Brewing. It was supposed to be Three Fired Guys Brewing Company due to them being fired when Sleeman bought Upper, who eventually sold to Sapporo. The storied green bottles all have 3FG embossed on them.
In the middle of a long drinking day we tried to catch the last tour and missed it because it's really popular and reservations are highly recommended. We only got a private tour from a on break employee because we looked sad and told him I was from California. He actually gave us a beer for that and came by minutes later to leapfrog the tour to get our own (whistle pull and all). Thanks bro.
They only sell 1 beer here, their 4 ingredient pilsner, but they'll let you try the unfiltered here (don't sell it anywhere else), and frankly I like the unfiltered more.
They occupy bays 1-14 in the old train roundhouse, but don't' use all the space, they even have an upstairs area and an open warehouse even space behind. The actual rounding area patio feels perfect for sprint and summertime day drinking. The main area seems wide open, but is surprisingly small in capacity. The bathrooms are up front and sort of high traffic, like an airport. 1 main pour bar cranking since they only really do 1 beer and no food. There are offices upstairs and lounges for employees. I dig the upside down Christmas trees, but wish there was more seating and tables. I enjoy steam whistle just as much from the bottle from LCBO, but find the non twist cap takes a little more effort than most, the old bic lighter method only gets it 90% of the first try. That 5th star is for hospitality of the free beer, free unfiltered beer and the private tour. It's a cool facility and worth checking out if you like a pilsner, not too touristy.
